Breeding Regulations
ARTICLE I – GENERAL
1.01 The Fila Brasileiro Association is a not-for-profit organization interested in promoting and preserving the Fila Brasileiro breed in accordance with the official standard of the breed as recognized by the Brazilian Confederation of Cynology.
1.02 It is mandatory that all members of the FBA subscribe to the official standard of the breed, being concerned with the propagation of physically, mentally, and temperamentally sound Fila’s.
1.03 All measures should be taken to acquaint the members and all interested parties with the contents of these Breeding Regulations so that they will not become innocent partners in improper breeding practices.
1.04 All members of the FBA will agree to breed discriminately. The members of the FBA must understand and agree that to breed unadvisedly may lead to overpopulation and contribute to the deterioration of the Fila Brasileiro breed.
ARTICLE II – RECORDS
2.01 All members of the FBA will breed only pure-bred animals whose parents each have a pedigree of at least three generations issued by an organization linked to the FCI.
2.02 The breeder will keep accurate records of stock, mating and pedigrees, the registration cards, and transfer of ownership. Members of the FBA may (it is optional) send a copy of their Fila's pedigrees to the FBA Secretary, which will be kept for future use in statistics.
2.02 The files and records belong to the membership and any pedigrees may be requested and, for a nominal fee, the Secretary will provide them with the "Only for Information" stamped across them.
2.03 The Stud's Directory will only accept Fila’s with a Certificate or OFA Preliminary Certificate or certificates from other similar institutions.

When the chosen stud does not fulfill his duties, even if the bitch refuses the mating, the owner of the does not lose his/her rights for boarding expenses provided above, but cannot ask for the payment of the stud service.
3.06 In cases of the bitch undergoing an artificial insemination, the veterinary who collects the semen of the sire should testify in a letter, that the semen, fresh or frozen, is provided by the chosen stud. The letter should include items "A" to "G" and should be offered to the owner of the bitch by the owner of the male.
